I get up and stretch my back but it usually takes up to two hours before I can finally fall back to sleep. My matress was purchased from rooms to go less than a year ago and seems very comfortable. I have tried the pillow between the legs trick, but it doesnt work for me. How severe is this, and will I have to live with this for the rest of my life? I am an active athlete and have not reached the big 2-0 just yet.

Because it only happens at night I would think that your mattress has something to do with it.
If you’re confident that it isn’t the mattress, I suggest you have a doctor check you out.
Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!

See a chiropractor. It does wonders, despite what many say. Also, it could be the way you are sleeping. Sometimes I use the body pillows that pregnant women use to help keep my back straight…you cuddle it like it’s a guy, but it keeps your spine from curving and takes pressure off. It helps alot.
i would go see a chiropractor..after a few times of going you will feel so much better. i had this same problem and my chiropractor fixed it.
it might be that ur matress is too soft and coushiony. a more firm bed might be better…..
